Visa D “visitor” (or “visitor visa”) – the easiest way to obtain a residence permit for financially independent applicants.
To apply for a French long-stay visitor visa D in France, you need to prepare the following documents:
- Confirmation of sufficient financial means to support your stay in France for the entire duration of the requested D visa category;
- Residential address in France: leased accommodation (for a minimum of 12 months) or purchased property;
- Originals and translated copies of documents confirming the applicant’s financial solvency;
- Medical insurance for the applicant and all family members;
- A motivation letter from the applicant to the consulate;
- Other documents as required by the consulate.
As part of obtaining a visa D “visitor” to France, we take care of selecting real estate in accordance with the requirements of the French consulate.
Who is eligible?
Not everyone qualifies for this type of visa. Applicants must demonstrate to the administration either special merits, an innovative nature of activity, or high income. Candidates for the “talent passport” may include inspirers and creators of startups, qualified employees, investors, experienced entrepreneurs, successful athletes, and cultural figures from non-EU countries, including Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians.
Conditions:
- Have a lease contract or other documents confirming residence in France
- Have sufficient funds to live in France
- Have special achievements in their field, high income, or work in the innovative sector
- Meet other conditions specified for the specific type of visa.
- We offer qualified assistance with the processing of such a visa “turnkey”: from idea to finished product.
Our services include the assistance of an immigration lawyer with 10 years of experience in obtaining residence permits.
How to get a residence permit in France for 4 years and forget about annual document renewal? How to ensure that the spouse also has the opportunity to work in France without restrictions? How to move to France with the whole family?
Answer: Obtain a “passeport talent” residence permit. One option is to open a business in France.
Moving to France as an entrepreneur is possible.
The first option is to start a startup or buy an existing business. An entrepreneur visa will be issued to the immigrant for one year. If during this time the business does not start generating a profit equal to at least one minimum monthly French salary, it will be difficult for the foreigner to extend such a visa later. However, assuming there are sufficient funds to live in France, the entrepreneur can invite their spouse and children to join them in the country as soon as one year after entering France.
Immigrating to France is possible with a work visa, subsequently obtaining a one-year residence permit. You can find a suitable job and apply for employment, but it won’t be easy—due to the current unemployment rate in the country, French nationals also compete for jobs.
Another option is to open a branch of an existing foreign company and apply for a work visa.
In both cases, obtaining citizenship immediately is not possible. After 5 years of holding a residence permit, immigrants can apply for permanent residency. Citizenship can be obtained after 5 years of legal residence in France with a consistently high income.
Who is eligible?
The “étudiant” (student) visa is intended for foreign students applying to universities, schools, or courses, as well as for inter-university cooperation programs.
Conditions:
The “Campus France” / “Etudes en France” procedure is mandatory for all students outside the EU who are applying for a long-term student visa.
To apply to French universities, you need to register with the “Campus France” system and create an online dossier there. The “Campus France” website provides guides for filling out online dossiers for applicants in different situations: those applying for the first year of university, architecture schools, those applying to universities or courses independently, those enrolled in universities as part of inter-university cooperation programs, and more.
Some universities may be connected to the “Campus France” system, where filling out the online dossier is usually sufficient. If the university is not connected to the system, the applicant must send documents to each chosen university independently, usually by regular mail.
The dossier submission procedure is quite simple: you fill out the dossier, attach the necessary documents with notarized translations into French, your resume, and your photo. You also select the educational institutions you wish to apply to and write motivational letters to them.
The dossier is checked and validated by the Campus France representative office. After that, you pay the registration fee and schedule an interview at your regional representative office.
After passing the interview, all you have to do is wait for responses from the universities you have chosen.
When filling out the dossier, you will also need to attach a document confirming your level of French language proficiency. These can be DELF/DALF diplomas or TCF-TP/TCF-DAP test results (the latter is only for applicants applying for the first year of university and architecture schools).
Some universities, after approving the dossier, will invite you to participate in an entrance exam, and only after successfully passing it can you be enrolled. For such a trip, you will need to obtain a short-term visa or a visa for taking the exam. Important: the latter can only be obtained when enrolling in universities not connected to the system.
The application process and dossier collection should start in the fall; however, many universities close their admissions by May.
Naturalization in France is a legal procedure aimed at obtaining French citizenship on general grounds by foreigners. To do this, a person from another country must reside in the country for 5 years as a resident. The naturalization period can be shortened if the foreigner is a graduate of a French university, possesses unique abilities, or has been granted refugee status.
For Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, and other representatives of CIS countries, the easiest way to obtain French citizenship is through naturalization. To do this, the foreigner must have a residence permit, be employed, not be prohibited from entering, have knowledge of the social structure and the French language at an intermediate level (level B1 confirmation required), and also consent to comply with the basic norms of the Republic’s citizen charter.
